Terms of use

Effective date: September 29, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Carlos Alvarez, an individual based in Kansas, USA (“Dayscent”, “we”, “us”), for the Dayscent app and the dayscent.app website. The first part covers the whole app. The second part, the Community Terms, adds rules for Friends.

Plain-language summary: use Dayscent for yourself and be kind in Friends. What you add is yours. Picks are suggestions, not guarantees, and you can leave any time.

Part 1: App terms

Using Dayscent

  • You need an account to use most of the app. Keep your sign-in email secure; you’re responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it.
  • Use Dayscent only for personal, non-commercial use, and don’t try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer it, or get around its usage limits.

Suggestions, weather and AI answers

Dayscent’s daily pick, match score, weather-based notes and any AI answers are suggestions for fun and convenience. They can be wrong. Fragrance details come from third-party sources and may be incomplete. Always check a product’s label if you have allergies or sensitive skin.

Dayscent+ subscriptions

  • Dayscent is free to use. Dayscent+ is an optional subscription at $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year (US dollars; the App Store or Google Play shows the price in your currency).
  • Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and follow their terms. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel in your store account settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
  • Features marked “coming with Dayscent+” are not available yet and may change before launch.

Your content

You own the content you add (photos, notes, posts, comments). You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run Dayscent, as described in the privacy policy. Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to share.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time (how to delete your account). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the Community Terms below.

Disclaimers and liability

Dayscent is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don’t promise it will always be available or error-free, and we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Questions: [email protected].

Part 2: Community Terms (Friends)

Friends is the part of Dayscent where you can see what your friends are wearing today. These terms cover Friends. You agree to them when you pick a username. If you don’t agree, don’t use Friends. The rest of the app still works.

Who can use Friends

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you.

What you share, and who sees it

Friends are mutual. Someone becomes your friend only when you both agree.

  • Anyone signed in to Dayscent can find you by searching your username or name. Search results show your username and display name, and they can open your basic profile (username, display name) to send a friend request.
  • Your friends, and people you send a friend request to, can see your username, display name and profile photo.
  • Your friends’ friends can see your username, display name and profile photo while you appear in a friend’s friends list. Each person chooses whether friends can see their friends list (Profile, “Show my friends list to friends”, on by default).
  • Your wear history is private unless you share a post. Logging a wear does not automatically post it. Friends see shared posts in the Feed for 7 days and can see older shared posts on your profile while they remain eligible to view them. Posts show the fragrance name, brand, bottle image and wear time. Optional captions can include weather, occasion, time, a poll or a rating. Friends can leave comments and reactions; unshared wears stay private.
  • Your collection is private unless you turn on “Show my collection to friends” (off by default). Then your friends see each bottle’s photo, name, brand and your rating, never your notes.
  • People you may know can show your current profile photo to people who were shown your suggestion in the last 30 days, while you still share a mutual friend and the suggestion has not been dismissed. Blocks and suspension prevent this access.

You can turn off “Share what I wear”, “Show my collection to friends” and “Show my friends list to friends” in Profile at any time. Your friends aren’t told.

We never let people search for you by email or phone number.

What’s not allowed

Everything you add to Friends must be respectful. That includes your username, display name, profile photo, the names of fragrances you add yourself, captions, polls, reactions and comments. Don’t post or do any of the following:

  • Harassment or bullying: insults, threats, intimidation, or unwanted contact after someone has made clear they don’t want it.
  • Hate: attacks on people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or any similar trait.
  • Sexual content: nudity, sexual images or sexual comments. Anything sexual involving a minor is reported to the authorities.
  • Violence: threats, glorifying violence, or encouraging self-harm.
  • Spam: ads, links to sell things, scams, mass friend requests or repeated unwanted messages.
  • Impersonation: pretending to be another person, a brand or Dayscent.
  • Private information: sharing someone else’s address, phone number, location or other personal details (doxxing).
  • Illegal content: anything that breaks the law or encourages others to.

Zero tolerance

We don’t allow objectionable content or abusive users. There are no warnings for serious cases.

What happens if you break these terms

Depending on what happened, we may:

  • remove the content (for example, reset your username or remove your photo)
  • suspend you from Friends, which hides you from everyone
  • permanently ban you from Friends, or close your Dayscent account
  • report illegal content, threats or child safety concerns to the police or other authorities

We decide what counts as a breach. We try to be fair, but we don’t have to explain every decision.

Reporting and blocking

  • Report: tap a person, then Report, and pick a reason. Blocking them in the same step is switched on for you; you can switch it off. If you pick “Something else”, you can add a short note. The person isn’t told who reported them.
  • Report a comment: tap … next to a comment, then Report comment, and pick a reason. Blocking its author in the same step is switched on for you; you can switch it off. You can delete your own comments, and any comment on your own wear, from the same ….
  • Block: tap a person, then Block. The friendship or request is removed, you disappear from each other’s search, and neither of you can send requests, see the other’s photo or wears, or see or leave reactions and comments on the other’s wear. They aren’t told.

We review every report and act within 24 hours.

Filtering

Some words can’t be used in usernames, display names or comments, comments can’t contain links, and we remove content that breaks these terms. No filter is perfect. If you see something that got through, report it.

Your content

You own what you add. You give Dayscent permission to store it and show it to the people described above, only so Friends can work. When you delete content or your account, we delete it from Friends. Reports, including a copy of the reported content, may be kept for a limited time as a record of what was reviewed, even after the account involved is deleted (see the privacy policy).

Changes

We may update these terms. If the change matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Using Friends after that means you accept the new terms.
